Nursing Philosophy
I believe that our patients are the priority when I provide care. Whatever brings them into the hospital drives them, and they (or their families when the patient is unable) decide their care. I will advocate for their wishes to be upheld when necessary.
One of the healthcare problems of interest to me is the low number of registered organ donors in my area of the country. As the wife of a donor, I feel very passionate about this issue. There are not enough registered donors to fill the need for organs. In a perfect world, I would find a way to increase the number of donors and make organ donations more available to rural areas.
I believe nurses should never stop learning; it benefits our patients to pursue knowledge consistently. I have learned things from new nurses and taught new nurses things. Healthcare is constantly evolving, and keeping up with evidence-based nursing is imperative. Nurses have to keep current to provide the best care
